Started out as private-home tutors, a bunch of university undergraduates sat together in a NUS meeting room with an idea. Reminiscing on their past experiences in the IB, a centre was established as they realised a lack of tutors who've been through the IB themselves. This then gave birth to the humble beginnings of IB Lounge.

We’ve conquered the IB.

Unlike most centres out there, many of the tutors have not taught or been through the IB before. Instead, many resources and materials are tweaked and adapted from other curriculums such as IGCSE, AP or A levels.

While they may be able to teach the IB content effectively, they may be ineffective in teaching skills to answer IB questions or assignments. Why not put your hands into a centre which specialises in IB?

+ WHY SHOULD I TRUST IB GRADUATES?

It’s hard to find tutors with experience in tutoring and the IB programme. For us, expertise comes in the form of excelling through the program despite its rigour. We understand what it takes to get there.

Other tutors may have experience tutoring students to excel in local examinations, but how about the IB? Yes, other tutors will help you to nail the basic fundamental concepts down, but they may be ineffective in meeting the demands of IB questions and its coursework load. Additionally, IAs and EEs which are specific to the IB are unfamiliar for them.

+ WHAT IF I'M UNABLE TO ATTEND CLASSES?

No worries, we’ve got you covered.

We offer replacement classes that will make sure you are back on track.

Do remember to schedule the replacement class at least 3 days before the class!

We do not offer cancellations or pushing back classes in to the next month, only replacement classes which should be completed within the month (exceptions can be made to extend this to one week after the next month).

+HOW CAN I BE SURE IB LOUNGE IS WORTH MY MONEY?

No registration fees, no administrative fees, no miscellaneous fees: Just come with a will to learn.

We get it. You are tired of paying registration fees and additional fees for printing or material costs. That’s why at IB Lounge, we’ve scraped this to solely focus on you.

How we deliver our content, the resources we provide, and whether you’ve learnt something, is paramount to us.

We believe our tutors should be paid fairly and around market rate in order to maintain quality. Without our passionate and dedicated team, who would be there to deliver the best for you?

Some centres charge twice as much as us, excluding registration and printing fees. Instead, put you or your parent’s hard-earn money into something that delivers.

Are the rates for Face-to-Face classes and Online classes the same? (Updated Dec 2021)

From 2022, ib lounge will be charging the same rate for our F2F and online class offerings. We believe our physical classes provide a more engaging and interactive experience, and thus would like to encourage more students to attend classes at our physical location.

Our tutors have also feedbacked that they prefer F2F teaching as it allows them to be more lively and engaging!

However, should you prefer the convenience of learning at home, we provide that offering at the same fee.

+WHY DOES IB LOUNGE OFFER SO FEW GROUP CLASSES?

From the start, we are committed to providing personalized and specialized tutoring services. As every school adopts its own pace, what we realized was that by providing mass classes for our students, it may not be in line with their school’s pace.

Further, the IBDP allows students to take variations within the same subject. For example, different students learn different books for Language and Literature. Thus, grouping students of different schools/classes may not be ideal.

With this in mind, you can still enjoy discounted group rates by bringing a friend or more along!

+WHAT MAKES LESSONS AT IB LOUNGE SO VALUABLE?

Tutors: Our tutors have all gone through the IBDP and have gone through the rigors and struggles that the IBDP offers. More importantly, they have conquered the program and thus are able to provide our students the guidance based on first-hand experience!

We also carefully vet our tutors, ensuring that they not only are apt in the subjects but also have the intent and passion to providing engaging lessons. Our tutors are chosen because they care about the students they teach, providing lessons that go beyond just the content.

Materials: We craft our own materials including notes and practices with the intent of providing relevant material that students will benefit from. These resources are developed based on what we feel will be most useful for students sitting for the IBDP, based on what we went through personally. We frequently develop the material based on syllabus changes to remain relevant.

Our space: Our physical space was chosen to provide a comfortable learning environment. Small cozy classrooms for lessons to take place and a living area where students can rest after classes are some ways students use our location. Not to mention, the free flow of snacks and drinks to brighten up lessons!

+WHY ARE IB LOUNGE FEES HIGHER?

Whilst some may feel so, we also have many students that have found our lessons to be absolutely worthwhile.

With an average 2-3 grade improvement track record, it is hard to place a price on something that can potentially achieve that, especially when it comes down to .

Our students have also commented that the care and personalization from our tutors is something that they have not experienced elsewhere. This is largely due to the fact that most of our tutors focus only on 2-3 small classes at most and thus can offer dedicated attention.

We also aim to pay our tutors a fair compensation. With up to 70% of the fee going to tutors, this ensures that they are fairly compensated and motivated to deliver quality lessons. The fee also goes to constant upgrading of our resources for our students to revise at home.

Lastly, our students receive periodic welfare packages to boost morale and motivation. These have ranged from bubble teas, personalized graduation gifts, snacks and others!
