Why is IB Lounge expanding to India?

In case you missed it, we are launching our lessons in India.

Why India?

We were contacted by tutors in India who read some of the articles we put up. After conducting a survey and interviewing IB graduates and students based in India we realised there are similar problems which led to us starting IB Lounge.

Tutors who don’t know the IB.

One of the big issues that were raised was that most tutors have no experience with the IB Progamme. They usually teach the National Curriculum and hope that certain topics overlap. This is a common occurrence and is to the detriment of the student.

Our tutors have all been though the IBDP themselves and are made up of tutors in the top 4% of students worldwide and have been teaching students for past few years.  We believe that to fully address the problems students face, and help students understand the concepts, tutors need to be specialized in the IBDP.

Quality.

We were also surprised by amount of tuition each student goes for. Our lessons are typically once a week for about an hour and a half. This is sufficient for our students to learn key concepts and strategies as well as to go in depth on topics they may have difficulties with. Lessons are capped 8 students per class to provide students with a boutique tuition experience.

Singapore has been consistently ranked amongst the top scoring countries for the IBDP, our tutors and curriculum heads all come from the top IB school in Singapore, and have gone on to prestigious Universities studying a wide range of subjects, such as Law, Medicine, Engineering, Mathematics and Life Sciences to name a few. We have come together to develop a curriculum that will help students score in their examinations and put them in good stead for the further education.

Success of our Online Lessons.

Despite receiving a large number of international requests, we held off from moving overseas as we were unsure if we could maintain the quality of our online lessons. The global pandemic, while unfortunate, let us trial online lessons for our current students. This received an overwhelmingly positive response, giving us the confidence to launch this abroad.

Some parents in India have raised concerns over the productivity of online lessons, we want to ensure you that the quality and effectiveness does not drop, we also limit the class size to 8 to reduce issues with connectivity.
