Why I tutor
I have wanted to become a teacher since middle school, when I discovered how much I enjoyed helping my peers and juniors with their studies. Whether they needed help understanding concepts, answering questions, or finding effective study strategies, I found it rewarding to guide them towards greater understanding and confidence in their learning journey.
Teaching style
For concept-based subjects (e.g. Business), I facilitate discussions using a shared document where both the student and I can record and develop our ideas together. Rather than simply providing answers, I encourage students to approach concepts independently by guiding them through questions and prompts that help them arrive at the answer themselves. Through active discussion, we work through each topic step-by-step, ensuring that students develop a thorough understanding of the concepts while building their confidence and ability to think independently.
Impact on students
Although grades are important, I believe the process of learning is equally meaningful. How students learn and what motivates them to learn are key factors that help them stay engaged, curious, and motivated to achieve their goals. As a tutor, I hope to inspire my students to build confidence in their abilities and find joy in learning, rather than seeing it simply as a means to achieve good grades. Ultimately, I hope to help them develop a positive attitude towards learning that they can carry with them beyond the classroom and apply to their everyday lives.
