IB Lounge was set up to pass on the gift of having inspiring teachers that taught me to understand, appreciate, and enjoy learning.
Where this all came from.
As a student, the teachers who cared made me curious. The ones who didn't made me switch off. Passionate teaching produced better attention, and as a by-product, better grades. That was the template.
After National Service I tutored briefly at a centre, then left. Too much process, too little student-level care. I started IB Lounge on a simpler premise: a tutor's job is to walk the journey with the student and show them that learning can be enjoyable. Every tutor who joins IB Lounge is personally vetted by me.
You may not be getting a tutor with ten years of experience. What you get is a peer who recently walked the same IBDP path, remembers the pitfalls, and has the genuine desire to inspire. In our view, that matters more.
Andre joined early on as co-founder. He runs the teaching side with me, keeps the tutor bench sharp, and is usually the one parents hear from between lessons. We’re two IB alumni running a centre we wish had existed when we sat the papers.
