Why I tutor
I love teaching Geography because it offers a powerful lens through which to view the world. Beyond memorizing case studies, IB Geography provides a structured way of thinking through the core concepts of Place, Process, Power, and Possibilities. I am passionate about helping students use these conceptual frameworks to understand how human and physical environments interact.
Teaching style
I focus on conceptual clarity and synoptic thinking. Rather than treating Units in isolation, I guide students to connect geographical concepts across different Units and Options as demanded by the IB HL Geography Syllabus on the final concept of 'Synthesis of Knowledge'. By breaking down units and case studies into the 4P2S concepts set out by the IB, I help students develop answers that the IB Examiners are specifically looking for.
Impact on students
In the classroom, I want every student to leave each lesson understanding the 4P2Ses (geographical concepts set out by the IB) and how they can apply this to the real world as well, rather than just academics. Beyond the classroom, I also hope to be a mentor for the US admissions process as I will be completing my studies there. I hope that other students will see the US as a possibility for their higher education and career ambitions.
